TOP 10 List of Upcoming Phones in January 2023

1. Vivo X90 and X90 Pro Plus

Vivo’s latest flagship series will hit the Chinese market in December 2022.The X90 Pro+ is powered by a Sony IMX989 with a 1440P 120Hz AMOLED screen. It also features Qualcomm’s latest 8 Gen 2 SOC.
The vanilla X90 is a decent package that offers a practical camera setup: a 1/1.49″ primary sensor, a 12MP 2X telephoto, and a 12MP ultra-wide angle. According to the leaked poster, the global launch is probably January 31; Vivo may launch it in India at the same time, or there may be another launch for the Indian variant.

2. OnePlus 11 and OnePlus Nord CE 3

OnePlus (officially owned by Oppo) has shifted its focus to performance-oriented devices with clean software; Oppo prioritizes camera-centric markets; OnePlus 11 features a 120Hz 1440P E4 AMOLED panel and IMX890 primary sensor It has a proper triple camera setup with an ultra-wide angle lens and 2x optical zoom.

OnePlus is trying to simplify its smartphone portfolio by focusing on fewer devices, and OnePlus has now changed its naming scheme: the OnePlus 11 has the same high-end specs as the OnePlus 10 Pro, if not a cheaper price. Whether or not there will be a Pro model remains to be seen. A gaming-centric OnePlus 11R will still be seen.

The phone will launch in February 2023 in global markets and India, with January 4 rumored to be the date of the Chinese launch event. We already have some hands-on images of this phone, which appears to have a polarizing design.

Sometime in January 2023, the OnePlus Nord CE3 could be launched. This appears to be a rebranding of the Realme 10 Pro, with a flat 120Hz IPS LCD panel and Snapdragon 695 SOC, flat sides and thin bezels. The ultra wide angle lens will most likely be omitted and it will ship with a 108MP primary sensor and a useless 2MP depth sensor.

3. Redmi Note 12 series

The Redmi Note 12 series has already entered the Chinese market. Rumor has it that the Indian version of the Redmi Note 12 is better than the Chinese one: it has a 4 Gen 1 SOC and a 48MP primary sensor.

It also has a 120Hz AMOLED screen. The Chinese version lacks the ultra wide, but the Indian version may have an 8MP ultra wide and the obligatory 2MP depth sensor.

The Note 12 series is complicated to navigate; the Note 12 Pro and Pro Plus have exactly the same specifications. They offer a class-leading 120Hz AMOLED Dolby Vision display and 6nm Density 1080 SOC; the 5000mAh battery is also the same, with the Pro Plus charging at 120W and the Pro at 67W.

The main difference between the two is the main sensor: the Pro has a 1/1.56″ 50MP Sony IMX 766 (OIS) sensor, while the Plus has a larger, higher-resolution 200MP Samsung HPX sensor (~1/1.4″, OIS).

A Note 12 Discovery Edition has the same specs as the Pro Plus, but with 210W ultra fast charging. As a result of this ultra-fast charging, the battery shrinks to just 4300 mAH.

The Note 12 Speed Edition is a completely different phone with a Snapdragon 778G SOC, a 5000 mAH battery and 67W charging. The design is almost identical to the Note 12 Pro, with an 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro camera, and a 108MP 1/1.52″ Samsung HM2 primary camera.

The entire Note 12 series is confirmed to launch on January 5, 2023. In India, the Note 12 Pro Speed Edition (not to be confused with the Discovery Edition) may be launched as the Poco X5 Pro; we may see a January launch; and the Note 12 Pro Speed Edition may be launched as the Poco X5 Pro.

4. IQOO 11 and IQOO 11 Pro

The launch of the IQOO 11 series in India is confirmed for January 10. The vanilla IQOO 11 will feature a 2K/ 1080P 120Hz AMOLED display. The ultra wide angle lens is a disappointing 8MP at an expected price of 55,000-60,000. Other sensors look decent, mostly 50MP main and 2x zoom lenses.

Make no mistake, the IQOO 11 Pro is a serious flagship. It seems to have a handy 50+13+50 camera setup and 8 Gen 2 SOCs. The display is a 10Bit 120Hz LTPO 2K AMOLED screen. Both these phones may be powered by Vivo’s custom imaging chip. This phone is already available in China, but the Indian model may be slightly modified.

5. Tecno Phantom X2

The Phantom X2 is equipped with a Dimensity 9000 SOC and has an eye-catching but very skewed design. The launch is confirmed for January 9, 2023, with pre-orders starting on January 2. It still runs Android 12 out of the box and has a 120Hz AMOLED screen.

The 64MP primary camera, 13MP ultra-wide angle lens, and useless 2MP depth camera are still very disappointing. It needs a better camera setup and standout features to sell. These underwhelming specs might be acceptable at a reasonable price.

6. Motorola Razr(s) 2023

Motorola is reportedly likely to launch two Razr phones in 2023, following the Razr 2022 this year. It is not yet clear how these two phones will look and function. It is safe to assume that one of them will be similar to the current clamshell, but the second could be a large-screen foldable like the Galaxy Z Fold, or perhaps Motorola will make something with the rollable prototype display?

7. Samsung Galaxy F14 and M14

The Galaxy F13 will be released in June 2022. A successor may appear as early as January 2023. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy M14 5G, spotted by BIS in model SM-E146B/DS, may be launched in model SM-M146B/DS.

The M14 is expected to be launched with the new Exynos 1330 chipset. Other specifications could see an FHD LCD or OLED panel, a 6000 mAh battery and a 50MP triple camera setup. However, the F14 might be equipped with an underpowered Exynos 850 SOC.

Rumors about a foldable Google Pixel have been circulating since 2019, and the company has even confirmed that there will be a release in the near future, although it has yet to launch one. The latest news about the device suggests that Google is unhappy with it and is delaying its release, which is expected to be a book-shaped foldable like the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
